1. I think you can absolutely do it. That is quite a bit of inomce for down here. Depending which part of the country you choose, rents can be as low as $350 for a house. They are always more expensive on craigslist, but once you move here, you find out you can get things for cheaper.I am a resident now so I pay about $50 a month for health insurance. Fruits and vegetables come out to $25 a week. A visit to the supermarket for toiletries, condiments, etc can be aroun $50 depending on what you buy. Anything imported is twice the amount, so it is best to stick with brands made in Costa Rica.I think on $1400 you can live wonderfully AND travel around the country. That’s the best thing about living here, so many great places to visit. It is so inspiring to leave around such beauty.If you are an adventurous person then this is the right place. I always tell people don’t move here because it is cheaper, living in a foreign country can test your patience. But if you want to have a great story to tell, and remember what it is like to feel like a kid again .this is your place.
