Simon, since you’re using a hosted vireson of WordPress, I recommend that you search through the plugins and find the Akismet spam filter. When your blog gets discovered , you will be deluged with spam comments; Akismet does a great job of filtering them.Also, if you don’t want to moderate (hand approve) comments all the time, set the Comments/Discussions to allow no more than (say) 1 or 2 links. This will cut out the majority of spammers that Akismet hasn’t discovered. This setup has been working very well for me.
